Message I'm a law student, so be it far from my stance that I am totally knowledgable int he ways of the law currently, but you are intitled to an attorney? Only, if you were to sign a waiver, waiving your right to counsel, would you not be able to attain counsel...I really, hope you did not do, this......its not common practice to issue these waivers, at least not under florida statutes. Feel free to email me witht he perticulars of the case, and I will try and help. But, seriously bite the bullet and get a lawyer, and not a public defender. It will be worth the fee in the long run, depending on how stable your case is? As, a non legaly trained citizen the DA's for traffic court all be them not the cream of the crop will eat you for lunch. Its, not somehting to take lightly. Also, if you are convicted of this, there is no means of expunging it from your record, it will be carried with you for life, and affect your insurance rates. A regular reckless driving citation is expunged only after 3 years, or acceptable driver rating. Let, me just reemphasize GET A LAWYER. IF, you need some reccomendations on ATL lawyer shoot me an email, my sister practices for a corporate firm Hollande&Knight upt here, and I'm sure she can reccomend an inexpensive, reputable counsel. Don't run from the cops EVER!
